| Personal History | Leopold Connolly was born in November of 2346 in Southern Scotland to Patrick and Jacqueline Connolly. Throughout his life, he was consistently the best in his class, mainly due to his parents kind but stern guidance. Graduating High School in June of 2361, Leopold applied to Starfleet Academy and was granted admittance to the Class of 2365. In 2363, Leopold chose the Security and Tactical track for his major due to the chances for fast promotion and potential Captaincy. During his time in the Academy, his instructors described him as methodical to a fault. Graduating early due to the Federation-Tzenkethi War in 2364, the newly commissioned Ensign Connolly was then assigned to the USS Okinawa under then Captain Leyton as a junior Security and Tactical Officer. Throughout numerous engagements, Leo gained a keen sense of how to think on his feet. This also led to a dangerously loyal relationship between Leo and his Commanding Officer due to several near brushes with death during this time. Ending his assignment in 2366 with a promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade, Leo was then reassigned to the USS Eaves, a Miranda Class vessel as the Assistant Chief Security and Tactical Officer where he was stationed along the Federation-Cardassian Border and the Romulan Neutral Zone. Completing his tour in 2368 with the rank of Lieutenant, Leo then attended the Advanced Tactical Operations Course at Starfleet Academy. Completing this course in early 2369, Leo was then reassigned as the Tactical Training Officer for Cadet Training Squadron 47- Red Squad until early 2370. Following this, he was reassigned as Chief Tactical Officer aboard the USS Lakota, where he served under Captain Erika Benteen at the provisional rank of Lieutenant Commander. In 2372, Leo faced a turning point in his career- under orders from Admiral Leyton, he was one of the several landing parties who took part in operations to disable key ground systems in order to facilitate his coup. In the subsequent General Court Martial, Leo narrowly avoided being dishonorably discharged and imprisoned for treason due to the testimony of Captain Benteen and Admiral Leyton, who indicated that due to his position and loyalty that he was following orders under the assumption that his orders were lawful. As a result of his participation, he was authorized to keep his rank but it was a permanent black mark upon his record that followed him for the rest of his career as no Commanding Officer wanted him aboard their ships. |
