Recruit Training or 'Boot Camp' lasts for 36 Weeks, which is the longest course of training in the Federation. During this time, Marine Recruits are broken down mentally and physically before being built back up under the careful supervision of Marine Corps Drill Instructors. Recruits are forbidden from referring to themselves in the first person and are required to refer to themselves as 'This Recruit' or 'Recruit (Last Name)' and are required to salute all Marines, whether they be enlisted or officer due to their status as Marines. Recruit Training is divided into three distinct phases that separate recruits from trained Marines, which are =below.

Phase One lasts for 12 weeks consists of the following:

    - Marine Corps History and Culture

    - Rank Insignia and Rate Familiarization

    - Basic Physical Training

    - Basic Water Survival

    - Obstacle Course Negotiation

    - Basic Unarmed Combat Familiarization

    - Basic Weapons Familiarization

    - Customs and Courtesies

    - Basic Drill and Ceremonies

Phase Two consists of the following:

- Basic Space Survival- 6 Weeks Detached aboard the USS Arlington

- Planetary Survival- 6 Weeks Detached to the Edson Survival Range on Luna

-

Phase Three consists of the following:

- Final Drill and Ceremonies Assessment

- Final Weapons Assessment

- Final Marine Corps History Assessment

- Final Inspection

- Final Academic Courses

- The Crucible- The Crucible is a week long exercise testing everything the Marine has learned in a field environment during which, recruits get approximately 24 hours of sleep over the course of the entire exercise and very little food as they transition between stations, which are named after famous Marines and teach each recruit to work as a team to accomplish the objective. At the end of this, the recruits are marched to the Starfleet Marine Corps Memorial and presented with their silver arrowhead and anchor and awarded the title of 'Marine'

Following the completion of the Crucible and the final graduation parade, the remaining weeks are spent with security clearance investigations, final medical clearances, specialty selection, cleaning of the barracks to prepare it for the new class of recruits, and assisting units with miscellaneous duties throughout their respective bases.

Specialty Training

Following recruit training, new Marines will immediately be dispatched to their respective training schools, either at Starfleet Education and Training Command bases or at Marine Corps Training bases. The modern Marine Corps has hundreds of specialties, many of which correspond directly to Starfleet specialties. Training and certification for each specialty can range anywhere from 6 weeks to over a year for more intensive specialties. At present, the Force Reconnaissance training pipeline is the longest in the Marine Corps, requiring over 24 months of training to become a fully trained Force Reconnaissance Operator.
